The true success of BNG schemes will be seen in the effectiveness of maintenance and monitoring over the period of +30-years. Our Grounds & Estates Division supports teams of roaming Countryside Rangers who specialise in this type of skilled ecological maintenance, and can offer far wider benefits including general site management and community liaison. Through establishing clusters of BNG sites with dedicated delivery teams, we can offer a flexible, cost-effective solution to ensure that BNG targets are always achieved.
Following the initial habitat creation by our contractors, the project moves into its 30-year management period. This is taken care of by our dedicated Grounds & Estates Team, who have experience managing everything from small urban sites to thousand acre rural estates. We are experts in all aspects of environment maintenance, from day-to-day jobs like mowing, cutting and planting to specialist conservation grazing and wetland management. Our maintenance teams often have the most interaction with the public, especially on sites with public access, and always remain respectful and engaging.
Allocation of time and people is completely dependent on the site and how the client wishes to continue management. For smaller sites that require less frequent maintenance works, our roaming Countryside Rangers travel the
country to fulfil the management strategy set out in the HMMP. Some larger estates require constant management and we can provide a static team fully dedicated to managing a single site. The allocation of management resources is dependent on the habitats present and we cater to all requirements, no matter how large or small.
As with all of our services, the level of client involvement is entirely up to you. Some of our clients prefer a weekly catch-up, whereas others trust us completely to take care of the land with minimal involvement. We generally recommend a monthly report of any works that have taken place but as a minimum, an annual survey and review will be sufficient to inform the management plan for the coming year.
